The witches have historically been protectors of humans. They were feared for years, but only because their powers were misunderstood. The Witch Council originated centuries ago, when the demons were strong and flourished in small towns. They dwindled as the states became more urbanized, and eventually retreated. As they grew stronger, however, they returned to small towns and large cities alike, adapting to life there and learning to blend in. The Witch Councils across the country, and some internationally, have begun collecting together once again and training young witches and warlocks. Their powers can be used to expel demons from the bodies of innocent humans - though it takes a significant amount of training and ability to perform a successful expulsion. 

The Witch Council is silently contacting old witches and warlocks that have left Brooksfield to seek help, while sending their own well trained witches to neighboring towns to quell the possessions elsewhere. Defensive tactics only work for so long, however, and the council will soon have to develop an attack against the demons, killing them off before they can possess more of their human allies - if they can discover why their numbers are suddenly increasing.
